Rental Terms
All car rentals are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement that will be provided at the time of booking confirmation or vehicle collection. This document outlines the specific terms, conditions, insurance information, fees, and your obligations for the rental. In case of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Renting a vehicle with us requires:
- To hire a vehicle from Car Hire in Medway, you must be at least 21 years old. Age restrictions may differ based on the vehicle type, and additional fees may apply for drivers under 25. A valid, full driving licence relevant to the vehicle category is required, along with valid identification and proof of address. Payment details and a security deposit must also be provided. Please review the Rental Agreement for any additional requirements.
Booking and Payment Process
- Reservations can be made via our website, over the phone, or directly at our Medway office. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. Full payment and a security deposit are generally required at the time of vehicle pickup. All prices are listed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT as applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, processed securely through trusted payment providers.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- Upon collecting your vehicle, it is important to conduct a thorough inspection and report any pre-existing damage without delay. A vehicle condition report will be completed and signed at this time. The vehicle should be returned in the same condition as it was received, accounting for standard wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated, and fees may apply. Please return the vehicle with the same amount of fuel as at pickup; otherwise, refueling charges will be incurred. If you expect to return the vehicle late, please inform us as soon as possible, as this may result in additional fees. You will be responsible for any parking tickets, traffic violations, or charges that arise during your rental, along with an administrative fee.
Insurance and Liability Details
- All rentals come with basic third-party insurance. You will find comprehensive coverage details and excess amounts outlined in your Rental Agreement. Additional insurance options may be available to further lower your financial liability. It is prudent to assess these options thoroughly. You remain liable for any damage or loss up to the insurance excess unless you have opted for extra coverage. Any damage resulting from negligence or misuse will be your responsibility, irrespective of insurance policies.
Cancellation and Modifications
Cancellation and amendment policies depend on the type of booking and the advance notice provided. For precise details, please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Late cancellations or failure to show up may incur additional charges.
7. Restricted Activities
Prohibited vehicle uses:
- The vehicle must not be used for any illegal activities. Activities such as racing, rallying, or off-roading are prohibited. Transporting hazardous materials is not allowed. You may not sublet the vehicle or permit unauthorized drivers. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is strictly forbidden. Do not use the vehicle for purposes it was not designed for, exceed passenger or weight limits, or drive outside the agreed geographical area without prior authorization.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental termination and extra fees.
8. Liability Limitations
To the fullest extent allowed under English and Welsh law, Car Hire Medway is not responsible for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including loss of profits or data, resulting from your use of our services. Our liability for any claims will not exceed the total rental amount paid in the last 12 months. This does not affect our liability for negligence leading to death or personal injury, or for fraudulent actions.
9. Applicable Law
These Terms are regulated by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes will be resolved exclusively in the courts of England and Wales.
10. Amendments to Terms
We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Changes take effect immediately upon their posting on our website. Continued use of our services indicates your acceptance of the revised Terms.
